So after much consternation at the fact that my weight kept creeping back up and by creeping I mean gaining back 34 of the 75 lbs. I lost over a years time and the last 10 at break-neck speed. I decided to do something drastic. My neighbor had recently successfuly lost 30 lbs on the Hcg diet and lent me the book and HCG...so I took the plunge.
The HCG diet phase II is a 500 calorie a day diet coupled with the HCG hormone that helps your body release fat so that it survives off the stored fat...and I am currently 16 days in and I have lost a whopping 31 lbs! I can not believe.
In addition to the weight loss, my brain is clearer, I feel good, and I have more energy than I have had in a while. I a couple of days I will reach the 34 lbs lost and have reached my last stopping point.
The diet is supposed to help you reset your body's set point and retrain you. Currently I am eating no carbs (well I'm allowed 20 calories of melba toast but I usually don't feel I need it) and the only sugar is what I get from oranges, apples, grapefruit or strawberries.
One draw back I have noticed is that my exercise stamina is down, but I am willing to go with that for a while. I can stay on the 500 calorie part for 40 days and then I will be do a six week back to maintenace plan that lets in increase calories, eat more variety and take a break from the HCG. After that I can do another 500 calorie phase if I want.
There is controversy on this diet as with all drastic measures but I really felt that the science behind this one and the fact that I am still eating real meat, fruits and vegetables makes it better than some other drastic measures that I have contemplated (gastric bypass) or have actually done line those protein shake diets.
So right now 16 days in I am thrilled and happy to be heading in the right direction again!
